After Care - What your plants need from you

The most common reasons for the failure of trees and shrubs is lack of water or drowning!

  • It is essential that newly planted trees and shrubs are kept well watered.
  • During the growing season ensure that the plant does not dry out. However, do not over water as this will also damage the plant.
  • The roots of your plant need air and water so check soil conditions regularly. Use your finger to meter the soil. If the soil near the tree fells damp the soil is wet enough.
  • Grass and weeds rob the plant of available water and nutrients. Maintain a metre weed free circle around each plant for a minimum of two years.
  • Do not over feed in the first year as this will result in too much canopy growth for the new roots to support.
  • Check and adjsut tree ties regularly to accommodate growth.
