As part of our service we will always endeavour to deliver your
purchase by the most appropriate method, and therefore the type and cost of delivery
from us varies. Factors that influence this include:
- Suitability of carrier type for transporting live goods (this can vary on the
time of year as 2-3 day delivery schedules can be detrimental to plant health in
hot weather)
- Size and weight of stock to be delivered
- Quantity of stock to be delivered
- Required timescale for delivery
- Price (i.e. the customer’s budget)
- Access issues/limitations
The vast majority of our deliveries (other than local deliveries within 12 miles
of the nursery) tend to be made by one of the following methods:
- Pallet carrier
- Type of stock:
-
Shrubs, hedging and accessories of approximately 2m tall or less in relatively small
amounts, especially for customers who are geographically further away. We would
encourage customers to order the right amount of stock to fill a pallet or pallets
to get the best value for money (we are happy to consult with you to discuss and
amend quantities to help you achieve this). Some guide quantities: Laurel hedging
blocks: typically 3 per pallet Shrubs in 45ltr pots: typically 3 – 7 per pallet
(depending on variety)
- Type of vehicle:
-
Anything from an articulated lorry to a van so please notify us of any limiting
factors
- Unloading:
-
The stock will be on a pallet, so access to a forklift would be great! However,
as most people don’t keep a forklift at home, please confirm when arranging delivery
that a vehicle with a tail lift is required. Pallet carriers should normally have
a pallet truck onboard to help move the pallet from the vehicle tail lift onto your
driveway but these require a firm surface (i.e. not gravel or soft ground).
- Timescale and price:
-
Typically 2-3 days delivery from date of loading here (as arranged), usually costing
£60 (including VAT @ 15%) per pallet to anywhere within mainland UK.
- 2. Haulage carrier (lorry)
- Type of stock:
-
Trees or shrubs, hedging and accessories over 2m tall (or larger quantities of smaller
stock)
- Type of vehicle:
-
Lorry – either a large, rigid, curtain-sided wagon (approx 33ft long and 14ft high)
or a full-sized articulated lorry, so please notify us of any limiting factors
- Unloading:
-
These lorries tend not to have tail lifts, therefore we advise that heavier items
will require mechanical means for unloading.
- Timescale and price:
-
Timescale as arranged. Hauliers charge us per drop and by the mile, therefore the
price is dependent on distance – please refer to the map shown for prices (including
VAT @ 15%) for delivery as part of a shared load.
When your order is processed by our staff we will confirm the delivery charges before
your order is despatched.
All deliveries are effectively to curbside unless otherwise agreed (assisted deliveries
may incur a further charge). Please be aware that the majority of the stock we sell
is heavy and that customers should arrange for assistance at their end to avoid
risk of injury when attempting to move the stock (in some cases mechanical lifting
aides may be necessary).
Please note that customers must make us aware when placing their order of any and
all relevant limitations to access (weight limits, restricted drive/road width,
height restrictions, etc) that would affect delivery.
We will contact you prior to despatch to arrange/confirm a convenient day for delivery
but please be aware that it is not possible to confirm an exact time, so please
let us know of any limiting factors. Once the delivery arrangements have been confirmed,
any missed deliveries, which therefore require a second delivery, may incur a further
charge.
