Fastigiate Hornbeam
Carpinus betulus FastigiataThe Fastigiate Hornbeam cultivar is known as the 'Flame Hornbeam' because of its beautiful teardrop-shaped canopy. It has vivid golden-yellow autumn colour and can tolerate damp soils and exposed sites. Ultimate height around 10 metres.
Unlike normal Hornbeam, the Flame Hornbeam sheds its leaves in autumn. The resulting pattern of skeleton branches creates a stunning silhouette.
Its compact and dense branches is ideal for screening. The symmetry of the Flame Hornbeam works well in formal settings or as an avenue tree where spread space is limited.
Our trees are usually in stock as container trees. They range from 12cm to 18cm in girth or more. You can choose from 'feathered' specimens - with branches all the way to the base. Or a 'standard' tree, with a clear stem which is 180cm tall.
