Apple Melrose
Apple Melrose
Large flattened fruit. Yellowish green skin flushed and streaked dark red with russet spots. Firm, coarse, juicy creamy white flesh. Slightly acid flavour. Very good cooking and dessert qualities. Best after Christmas when it develops it's fruity aroma. All of our apples are grown on a vigorous root stock to make large fruit trees as seen in many old orchards.
We only grow varieties of fruit trees suitable for the conditions in the North of England to ensure that our customers can have the confidence that their trees will be hardy and that their fruit have a chance of ripening properly! All of our apples are grown on a vigorous root stock to make traditional large trees.
Usually available from 10cm to 14cm girth

Most of our trees are measured by girth (circumference) in centimetres at one metre above ground level, eg. 12/14 and 14/16 which conforms to European standards. Fortunately as a rule of thumb the girth size roughly equates to the height in feet.
