Scots Pine

The only pine tree native to the UK, the Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) is the only pine native to the UK blue-green needles. The trunk has a beautiful reddish-brown colour as it matures. Mature trees will lose their lower branches and take on an almost cedar of Lebanon shape, and produce lots of attractive grey pinecones.

Scot’s pine has a mature height and spread in excess of 10 x 8 metres growing at about 45cm a year. It will grow in most soil types except waterlogged ones and copes well with exposure.
