Cotoneaster cornubia trees provide instant privacy
An overlooked garden in East Yorkshire was given instant privacy with screening provided by Cotoneaster cornubia.
Left un-pruned Cotoneaster cornubia will grow to an arching, umbrella-shaped small tree. However, for this screening project, they have been planted closely so that they will form a "stilt hedge" screen; and the more it is pruned, the more dense it will become. As well as providing privacy, this screen will also attract wildlife due to the white flowers in summer, which will attract bees and other pollinators, and the blood-red berries in autumn are a valuable food source for birds.
