Variegated Dogwood
Cornus alba Elegantissima
Dogwood. This produces a plant about 150-250cm tall and wide, forming a thicket of mahogany-red stems from ground level. This deciduous shrub has mint-grey green leaves edged with bright white throughout the growing season, turning red with pink edges in autumn. The small white flowers are produced in spring followed by small white flushed with blue berries in the autumn. This plant is best cut back hard every second year, does well in all positions and is particularly good for damp sites (but will also tolerate periods of drought once established).
Excellent varigated leaves in summer and mahogony red stems in the winter. Thrives on damp soils.
Available as bushes 100cm to 150cm tall.
