Landscape Labourer and Tree Nursery Worker

Job Summary

Wykeham Mature Plants grow, supply and plant mature trees, instant hedging, screening and specimen shrubs.

We are looking to add one landscape labourer to our team.

The scope of work includes the unloading and planting of our specimen plants, mostly in private gardens in the Yorkshire area.

Hours of work

8 to 4.30 Monday to Thursday and 8 to 3.30 Friday with one half hour lunch break and two fifteen-minute tea breaks Monday to Thursday.

Please note: due to the nature of the job there is quite a lot of travelling requiring overtime. Starts at 7am or sometimes 6am and frequent late finishes which are again paid on overtime, with the occasional need to stop over on further afield planting projects.

As the planting work can decrease through the summer period some working on the nursery as part of the nursery teams may be required with the same hours of work. This will include pruning, caning, planting of young stock, collation of orders, weeding and other general physical work outdoors.

Training will be given in the operation of forklifts and diggers as required and all PPE will be supplied.

Rate of pay

£13.10 per hour plus overtime.

Requirements

• Previous experience in landscape planting is preferred but not essential.
• The ability to work outdoors in all weathers as reasonable.
• Ability to dig and plant with attention to detail.
• Familiarity with hand tools commonly used in landscaping tasks.
• Physical stamina to perform manual labour in various weather conditions.
• A keen eye for detail and adaptability.
• Own transport to and from our nursery site essential
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
